After Someone Is Arrested in Tarrant County
An arrest begins a process that can include booking, identification, magistration, bond consideration, court assignment, and housing.

Tarrant County's general visitation schedule depends on the first letter of the inmate's last name.
People whose last names begin with A–L have different visitation days from those whose last names begin with M–Z.

30-Minute Visits
Local visitors generally receive one 30-minute visit per day.
Three Visits Per Week
An inmate may generally receive up to three visits per week, excluding attorney, law-enforcement, and professional visits.
Visitor Limits
Up to two adults may visit at one time, along with no more than two children age 17 or younger.
Visitors who live more than 150 miles from the Fort Worth city limits may receive a 40-minute visit. Tarrant County states that residency will be verified.
Tarrant County states that visitors who were incarcerated in a Tarrant County detention facility during the previous six months will not be authorized to visit.
Visitor sign-up begins 30 minutes before visitation. For evening sessions, visitors are not processed after 8:30 p.m. Friday A–L morning/afternoon visitation stops processing visitors after 2:30 p.m.

Tarrant County uses an electronic mail-scanning system for ordinary inmate correspondence.
General personal mail is sent to an outside processing source, scanned into the jail's electronic system, reviewed by mailroom personnel, and then made available to the inmate on a tablet.

Medical, Dental, and Mental Health Care
Tarrant County provides health services to people held in the county jail regardless of their ability to pay.

Available medical services include emergency care, assessment of significant new illnesses, and monitoring of chronic conditions.

Dental services include triage of complaints, treatment of trauma and abscesses, and tooth extractions when medically appropriate.

Tarrant County states that inmates being transferred to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice may designate someone to collect their property. The inmate receives the required authorization form during the transfer process and is responsible for notifying the designated person.
